More about us….

1. Our Audiology background  Louise has been working for over 30 years’ as an audiologist and Tracy 21 years. We have worked in the NHS and privately so understand the needs and wants of both sectors, and individuals that work in ear care.

We still do day to day audiology clinics and both see clients, so we understand what it is like to see people on a daily basis and the surprises and challenges that comes with that. Our clients range from babies to 100 year olds, we do wax removal clinics, APD testing and see tinnitus clients.

2. We are experienced teachers. We have worked in many different fields of  audiology since we qualified, paediatrics, adults, tinnitus, BAHA, CI and teaching. We have been Adult and Paediatric Service Leads in the NHS so are well aware of the needs and stresses that workplaces are under and also been involved in audits of services. We have both sat on various committees within the BSA and BAA that helped with the development of quality standards in Audiology. In addition, we have also taught, supervised and assessed audiology and teacher of the deaf students.

3. We have been around for a long time now .  Tracy started TJ Audiology Training in 2012 and since then over 800 delegates have successfully completed our various courses.

4. We think its important that we are registered with audiology bodies .We are both with registered bodies such as the HCPC and RCCP and adhere to the codes of conduct that they provide, in addition to being registered with government register of UK Learning Providers.

5. Our courses are either accredited or adhere to acknowledged guidelines. Our  BSA courses are accredited by the BSA education panel . All other courses adhere to guidelines and recommendations that are provided by BSA, BAA, NICE guidelines and NHS England. Our course content is always being updated to include new research and information.

6. We regularly update our course content. Audiology is continually changing in both privately and in the NHS. It is a necessity to understand the upcoming directions of travel in audiology and prepare our attendees for this future, giving them a good head start. In addition, you want to know that your teachers are maintaining their competence by doing continuing professional development as well.

7. What happens if you need a course that isn’t on our website.  Don’t worry we can design the course around your needs. To give some examples we have previously designed courses for school nurses, and on otoacoustic emissions, for staff that were doing screening for adults with learning difficulties. We have supported students as tutors for their courses, and we are happy for you to come to our clinic and do on the job training too.

8. Our Location We are located in Newbury, West Berkshire which is west of London, so a nice central location without the worry of getting into London. Alternatively if you are a group, we can come to you.

9. Supporting you during the course and after As trainers it is our responsibility to understand how you learn and adapt our teaching to the way you learn. We know that people are more likely to do well on a course, if they can engage with their teacher and feel supported. For almost all our courses it is one teacher to six students to ensure that everyone gets the support they need. Many of our students in the past that have had dyslexia or significant hearing losses, have been able to fully participate in the courses. A lot of participants attend one of our courses and then come for more; or their company then sends more staff to our courses.

11. The backgrounds of our course attendees is varied For our adult impression courses we have taught people in industries, such as in Formula 1, TV, music and large events. Companies that make covert earpieces for the police, earmould manufacturers staff, along with the NHS and private audiology sector. For our other courses, people need to have a background in audiology or in the medical field such as doctors, nurses or paramedics.
